With Urban Meyer Gone, James Robinson's Back, In A Big Way

Urban Meyer's trash is Darrell Bevell's treasure. Running back James Robinson, who was kicked to the curb by the recently fired Meyer, again found himself productive, and in the Jaguars' starting line up Sunday. Jacksonville ended up on the losing end to the Texans, but Robinson sent Meyer a reminder of what could have been.

Robinson gained 88 total yards and scored Jacksonville's only touchdown, serving as the lone bright spot for an otherwise dim Jaguars offense.

"Obviously we've already talked about how good a player James is and just continuing to build on that," said quarterback Trevor Lawrence. "It was great to see James, obviously, very involved."

With Robinson leading the way (75 yards on the ground), Jacksonville ran for more yards (107) than they did in their previous two games combined (69).

Robinson's productive day came a week after Meyer limited the dynamic second-year back to just six touches in a loss to Tennessee. The 23-year old had been in Meyer's doghouse since fumbling early in a Week 13 loss to the Rams.

Jaguars interim coach Darrell Bevell not only rescued Robinson from that doghouse, he locked the door behind him, committing to the running back moving forward. "James Robinson is our starting running back and he will be played as such," Bevell said following Sunday's loss.

With three games remaining in the season, Robinson should have plenty of opportunities to prove Sunday's productive day was more than just fool's gold.
