We Are Not Buying The Disinformation About Sam Darnold Trade Value
NFL executives are reportedly doubting the New York Jets will get a 1st-round pick back for Sam Darnold. The third-overall-pick shows glimmers of stardom on tape, but the Jets can make any QB stink. New York needs to play hardball this offseason because someone that needs a quarterback will spend a first on Darnold.
Sam Darnold is plenty qualified to help an NFL team get to the playoffs, but he plays for the New York Jets. The last time this team had a presentable quarterback they ran out Mark Sanchez. Nothing special out of Sanchez (literally ever), but the roster around him was built to win.
How much help is Sam Darnold getting on this 2020 Jets team? How about when he returned last year from missing weeks with mono? Seem like he came back to lead pee wee football players, not an NFL team needing a quarterback.
Darnold is asked to save a failing franchise and drag them into contention. An inexperienced offensive line with absolutely no weapons to rely on. The worst coach in the NFL (by far) whispers quite literally sweet nothings in his ear as he tries to lead a roster full of guys we've never heard of.

Players grasp how important the rest of your roster is to playing QB, so maybe we should start paying more attention to rosters?
Patience
The New York Jets need to ignore the noise and if they want to take a chance for Trevor Lawrence, then be patient waiting for a first rounder in return. Lawrence won't solve their problems either. Only a qualified GM that can build a unit to help a young quarterback can save this abomination of a football team.
Sam Darnold IS a first round talent and the Jets can't be fooled by what these NFL executives are pretending to think. Trading Darnold for a second rounder would be the worst thing this team did in ten years and that's saying quite a bit.
New York, please don't.
