WATCH: Cordarrelle Patterson Breaks Franchise Record On Kick Return For TD

Cordarrelle Patterson hasn't lived up to the hype he had coming out of Tennessee back in 2013. He has, however, made himself useful at times, particularly on special teams as a return man. That usefulness was on full display Monday Night Football.

Chicago's utility knife took the opening kickoff of the second half all the way back for a touchdown. It was a 104-yard return, which broke former Bears great Gale Sayers' record of 103 yards set back in 1967.

The best part was Patterson's reaction watching his own highlight up on the big screen. The official Twitter account for the NFL also caught and posted it.

The Bears have used Patterson in a variety of ways since he arrived as a free agent prior to the 2019 season. He's seen action as a return man, at wide receiver and in the backfield as a running back.

With starting running back David Montgomery out, the former first-round pick has been the team's primary ball carrier against his former team, the Minnesota Vikings, on Monday night. He currently has nine total touches (eight carries, one catch) for 34 yards.

Chicago is currently up on Minnesota 13-10 early in the third quarter.
