Washington Football Team Launches Site To Chronicle Nickname Change
Washington will march on as The Football Team for another season, though the franchise does intend to give itself an actual nickname for 2022.
Washington launched a website Tuesday that will chronicle the organization's name and identity change process. The front page of the site reads, "The future of Washington Football arrives in 2022."
"The website also includes a timeline that walks fans through the name-change process," relayed Chris Cwik of Yahoo News. "It includes five chapters: Transformation, discovery, insight, creation and execution. Throughout the process, the team will take suggestions from fans. In the discovery chapter, it states those suggestions 'will guide the creation of our new identity.'"
There is specific area on the site designed for fans to submit nicknames. The team will list some of the suggestions. Among the early submissions: the Washington Memorials, the Washington Justice and the Washington Rhinos. So far, everyone seems to have stayed away from the Elephants or Donkeys.
It is believed Washington will keep the burgundy and gold color scheme.

Washington won the NFC East with a 6-10 record this past season, losing to the eventual-champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the playoffs.
