Washington DE Chase Young Reportedly Suffers ACL Injury, Likely Out For Season

The Washington Football Team evaluated edge rusher Chase Young and the team believes he suffered an ACL injury after exiting Week 10's matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Per NFL's Ian Rapoport, "The initial fear for Washington DE Chase Young is a torn ACL, ... The team is awaiting a full battery of tests, but if the diagnosis is confirmed, that would, of course, knock him out for the season."

Young exited the game in the second quarter of Sunday's contest, with Washington up 13-0 and 7:43 left to play until halftime.

He went down on a fairly non-contact play and was immobile after. Young waved off the cart requested to move him the locker room, and with help from teammates and the medical staff, Young walked off the field. By time of the third quarter, Young was spotted along Washington's sidelines on crutches.

The Ohio State product was named Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020-21. Young racked up 42 tackles, 7.5 sacks and four forced fumbles in his first season. He was also named a 2020 Pro Bowler.

This year has been off to a slower start than expected from the touted young player, only accounting for 1.5 sacks through eight games. Young has still put up 20 tackles and two forced fumbles in his sophomore season.
