Veteran Safety Malik Hooker Hoping To Chat With A Couple More NFL Teams This Offseason

Veteran safety Malik Hooker remains a free agent, but he and his reps are hoping that is going to change sooner than later with the countdown to training camp closing in for NFL teams and players.

Hooker has been a popular free agent this offseason despite not signing with a team yet. He's sat down with a couple high profile teams that are thinking postseason - the Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers.

It was prior to free agency even kicking off that Hooker stated that he knew signing a long-term deal was going to be a tough sell, but that he was okay inking a one-year contract.

Hooker is coming off of an Achilles tear and that he hopes to have more conversations with teams that might want to take a chance on him.

“It’s about fitting into the perfect system to be able to go out there and show my talents,” Hooker said.

“There was a couple of teams I visited with that I thought highly of. Now, it’s just a matter of taking my time with it. Training camp’s next month, not next week, so I’ve got time to be able to still tune up things and still hopefully go on more visits to see what else teams are talking about.

"Maybe meet with some teams I’ve met with before hopefully.”

Hooker was a first-round selection of the Colts back in the 2017 draft, and while he's been a solid player, injuries have held him back from being the star many felt he would be.
