Veteran Offensive Guard Kyle Long To Speak With Chiefs And Raiders About Comeback

Veteran offensive lineman Kyle Long, the 32-year-old son of Hall of Famer Howie Long, is making a comeback to the NFL for the 2021 campaign.

The lineman has a couple visits lined up around the NFL as he looks for a new home and new team to play for this season.

Reports say that two AFC West teams, the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs -- both in need of line help -- are going to chat with Long in the next few days.

Due to his dad's playing career with the Raiders in Oakland and Los Angeles, it makes sense for Long to at least speak to Las Vegas.

The Chiefs need help bad on the offensive line. That fact became obvious when Patrick Mahomes had to run for his life in the 2021 Super Bowl. In the biggest game of the year, the Chiefs were missing tackles Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz. Both were out with injuries, and both were let go by the team last week, leaving the door wide open for the two-time AFC Champs to go out and get at least one offensive lineman. Though Long is a guard, he could fill that void.

Long, a three-time Pro Bowl guard, was selected by the Chicago Bears with the 20th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

He was the first guard to be drafted by the team in the first round since Roger Davis in 1960.
