Trump Wants Herschel Walker To Run For Georgia Senate
Herschel Walker once dominated as a running back in the NFL as well as the old USFL, on a team owned by former President Donald Trump. And now Trump is hoping Walker will run again.
Only this time, Trump wants Walker to run for something other than a touchdown. He wants Walker to run for political office.
"Wouldn’t it be great if the legendary Herschel Walker ran for the United States Senate in Georgia?" Trump wrote in an official statement. "He would be unstoppable, just like he was when he played for the Georgia Bulldogs, and in the NFL. He is also a GREAT person. Run, Herschel, Run!"
Walker has been a big Trump supporter through the years, dating back to their time with the USFL's New Jersey Generals. Walker attended the Republican National Convention over the summer to praise Trump. He said that the two had developed a "deep, personal friendship."
Walker played for the Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants in the NFL. He is a Georgia native and played for the University of Georgia. So far, he has yet to express an interest in a political career.
But if Trump has any influence, perhaps Walker will run again, and this time, for something entirely new.
