Tony Gonzalez on Cowboys OC: 'He's got to call better plays'

The Dallas Cowboys have struggled offensively this season. Many of those struggles are the result of injuries to Dak Prescott, Tyron Smith and others, but some are not.

Andy Dalton was specifically brought in to provide stability behind Prescott and to give Dallas leverage with negotiations. But that has not been the case -- or even close.

Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez, now a commentator with FOX, pointed to another issue with the Cowboys offense, however: the performance of second-year offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

Gonzalez spoke on the issue during halftime of the Washington-Pittsburgh game.

“Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, he’s got to call better plays," Gonzalez said. "He’s got to put his team in better position. They have the opportunity, they’re still in a good position, but they’re not going anywhere unless they fix that offensive playcalling."

Yes, Dallas is still in contention for an NFC East crown, despite a 3-8 record. And yes, Moore has been a part of the problem.

There will still be issues, especially with the offensive line, even if playcalling is corrected, but at least it's a start.
