Tom Brady's Trainer Predicts How Much Longer QB Will Play
Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stopped by the White House Tuesday to celebrate the team's Super Bowl LV win over the Kansas City Chiefs, which reminded us all that the GOAT isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
The Buccaneers' 31-9 win over the Chiefs marked Brady’s seventh Super Bowl title, and his quest for No. 8 could extend past the 2021 season.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Brady's personal trainer and life coach Alex Guerrero said he expects the QB to play at least two more seasons, which would allow him to fulfill his goal of playing in the NFL until the age of 45.
“I know from my perspective that I want to honor my promise to him in helping him with his goal. If his goal changes, no problem. If he says, ‘Hey, I think I’m going to call it a day,’ then great. No problem," Guerrero said, per the Boston Globe. "I will 100% support that. But in my mind, I’m trying to prepare him to be able to do that. I thought about this year two years ago. I try to keep his body three years ahead of where we’re going to be. I’m thinking about not just next year, but, ‘What if he feels so good at 45 he wants to play to 46?’ I don’t know, so I’d better plan! I better plan to think about how I need to get his body prepared for 46 or 47."
Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht has also previously said he doesn’t see the veteran quarterback slowing down anytime soon.
“Tom’s gonna play as long as Tom wants to play,” Licht previously said. “He’s earned that right.”
Brady is reported to have played the 2020 season with a torn MCL, and the five-time Super Bowl MVP and three-time NFL MVP has more work to do, even though the team selected Florida quarterback Kyle Trask in the 2021 NFL Draft as his potential successor.
Trask has plenty of time to learn from and develop under one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
