Titans Admit Mistake, Release OLB Vic Beasley

The Tennessee Titans signed free agent outside linebacker Vic Beasley back in free agency. It was a move that many believed would help the team's problem getting after the quarterback consistently. Those people were wrong.

Instead, the former top 10 pick was a massive bust in Nashville, and the Titans are going to release Beasley on Wednesday, according to a tweet from Adam Schefter with ESPN. That news was announced via Twitter:

Beasley got off to a rocky start after signing with Tennessee in the offseason. He was 10 days late reporting to camp, and that ultimately cost the Clemson product a $500,000 in fines. Beasley was then placed on the non-football injury list and never really got any traction after his return.

In five games, Beasley had three tackles and zero sacks. He's played on only 24 percent on the team's defensive snaps since Week 3.

Because of the need for pass rushers across the league, the 28-year-old will probably land on his feet rather quickly. But it certainly won't be in Tennessee.

The Titans signed Beasley to a one-year, $9.5 million deal back in March. So this move didn't create any future cap, which means it was strictly based on performance. And from what we've seen, that shouldn't be a surprise.

Earlier in the season, Tennessee also shipped versatile linebacker Kamalei Correa out to division rivals, the Jacksonville Jaguars. That leaves Harold Landry III, Jadeveon Clowney and Derick Roberson as the three exterior pass rushes in Nashville.

We'll wait on any further moves from the team.
