Texans Sign Danny Amendola After A Single Workout

It didn't take long for the Texans to realize they wanted Danny Amendola in their receiving room. Hours after the veteran receiver worked out for the team, he signed a one-year $1.25 million deal to continue his NFL career in the same state where he succeeded in both high school and college. Amendola grew up in The Woodlands, a Houston suburb.

Amendola's most known for his five seasons with the Patriots. He caught 230 passes and 12 touchdowns as a member of two Super Bowl championship teams. Along with New England, Amendola's spent time with Dallas, Philadelphia, the then-St. Louis Rams, Miami and Detroit.

The fact that Houston inked Amendola to a contract on the same day he worked out for the team shouldn't come as a surprise. Texans GM Nick Caserio knows him well. Caserio was a member of the Patriots' front office while Amendola was catching passes in Foxborough.

Now 35 years old, Amendola spent last season with the Lions, appearing in 14 games and hauling in 46 passes for 602 yards.

After starring at Texas Tech, Amendola went undrafted in 2008 but soon found his footing. He has 593 career catches and has totaled more than $35 million in career earnings. Amendola joins Brandin Cooks and Anthony Miller as veterans in an otherwise young and unproven Texans receiving room.
