Teddy Bridgewater Believes Broncos Will Offer ‘New Beginning’

Drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2014 and having two efficient seasons at quarterback before injuries set in, Teddy Bridgewater’s path in the NFL has seen incredible turbulence. And now, he's at his fifth landing spot: the Denver Broncos.

From career highs (Saints) to career lows (Jets), Bridgewater is ready to find a way forward. In an interview with DenverBroncos.com, Teddy had a positive outlook toward his future in Denver: "New beginning, new opportunities ... "

Traded for a sixth-round pick back on April 28, Bridgewater’s ousting in Carolina by newcomer Sam Darnold has given Teddy newfound motivation to take the starting role in Denver over third-year quarterback Drew Lock, barring a trade between Denver and Green Bay for a certain Jeopardy! host. 

The move to the Broncos won't work wonders for Bridgewater, but it should boost the talent surrounding him. With offensive skill players like Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, Noah Fant, and Melvin Gordon, Teddy will see an upgrade after only three games with Christian McCaffrey in 2020 and switching to OC Bill Lazor after a tense relationship with former OC Joe Brady.

The Carolina Panthers reached a deal with Bridgewater in 2020, acquiring the quarterback on a three-year, $63 million contract. He ended his first season with 15 TDs, 11 INTs, and the league’s 17th best QBR, according to ESPN.

Leading into the 2019-2020 free agency period, Bridgewater was riding the momentum of five straight wins as the Saints' interim quarterback after Drew Brees suffered a right thumb injury in Week 2. His time in New Orleans was probably the best fit for Bridgewater so far, especially with the help of Sean Payton, Michael Thomas, and Alvin Kamara.

Overall, the move to Denver appears to be a good opportunity for Teddy to become a starting quarterback again and to join Mile High greats like John Elway, Peyton Manning, and Tim Tebow.
