Super Bowl Champion Buccaneers Revise Deals For Coach Bruce Arians And GM Jason Licht

NFL Network announced that Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay has agreed on revised contracts for coach Bruce Arians and GM Jason Licht.

Licht's deal, according to the network, “ensures he’ll be in Tampa Bay for multiple years."

The 68-year-old Arians appeared to be on the verge of retirement, but instead had a rebirth with the Bucs, winning a Super Bowl this past season with future Hall of Fame QB Tom Brady, beating the Chiefs in Tampa.

The new deal for Arians gives him a pay raise.

Arians has done a sensational job since joining the Bucs, taking a team that went 7-9 just one season ago and winning a Super Bowl this past February.

Super Bowl LV saw the Bucs defense dominate Kansas City Chiefs QB Pat Mahomes and the Kansas City offense in a 22-point win that was considered an upset by many, as they entered the game as six-point favorites in most sports books.

The Bucs went from a 7-9 mark in 2019 to 11-5 last season, and with Brady leading the way, they could easily repeat in 2021.

Tampa Bay is set to bring back just about all of their key playmakers in 2021, as the team didn't have a ton of free agents who decided to move on.

Running back Giovani Bernard was a threat with the Bengals the past few years ago, had 342 catches and 2,687 receiving yards. Both stats rank third among all NFL running backs since he entered the league in 2013. He signed with the Buccaneers in April and should be a contributor in 2021.

Licht, 50, has been with the Buccaneers since 2014. Under his watch, the franchise signed longtime New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in free agency in March 2020.

Arians is now 68, and many have speculated that even with a win in the Super Bowl in February that he's got plenty of gas left in the tank for 2021 and beyond.

For now the Bucs are set to start the 2021 campaign at home against the Dallas Cowboys in the annual NFL lid-lifter on September 7th, an event that seems to get more and more mainstream attention each year. The Super Bowl champs will look to start their season with a win over a returning Cowboys QB Dak Prescott and company.

How it plays out is anyone's guess, but it's been a good ride for the Bucs thus far, and as they say 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it.'

The team is hoping to keep it that way moving forward.
