Steelers Pick Up Eight Undrafted Free Agents As The Draft Wraps Up
NFL Draft weekend may be in the rearview mirror for the league and its 32 teams, but that doesn't mean that the work for teams has concluded.
One such team still hard at work is the Pittsburgh Steelers, a club who last season started the year 11-0, the best mark in franchise history, but by the end of the season had limped to a 12-4 mark and won the AFC North with a week left in the regular season.
Their first-round pick on Thursday night was Alabama running back Najee Harris, and many Steeler Nation fans were thrilled that their team got him since their running game was sorely lacking in 2020.
Sunday, the team continued to fill their roster as they pushed the number on the team up to 92 after signing eight undrafted free agents.
Coming aboard the roster are: WR Rico Bussey (Hawaii), WR Isaiah McKoy (Kent State), S Lamont Wade (Penn State), S Donovan Stiner (Florida), CB Shakur Brown (Michigan State), CB Mark Gilbert (Duke), LB Jamar Watson (Kentucky), LB Calvin Bundage (Oklahoma State).
One player to keep an eye on is Brown, the Michigan State cornerback who played well enough to take home first-team All-Big Ten honors in the 2020 campaign.
Last year, Brown notched five interceptions in just seven games. In his Spartan career, Brown finished with 54 stops, two tackles for a loss, two sacks, 16 pass defenses, and one touchdown across 26 games.
