Social Justice Decals Returning To NFL Helmets

Just in time for kickoff, the NFL announced on Thursday that social justice messages may make a comeback as players will once again have the option to feature them on their helmets.

As part of the NFL's "Inspire Change" platform, the league plans to address social justice through messages on the back "bumper" of player helmets, across end zones and through a "Say Their Stories" initiative.

“We are committed to Inspire Change and the social justice work that inspires change for the long-term,” said Anna Isaacson, NFL senior vice president of social responsibility, via The Associated Press.

Players who want helmet messages may choose from the following six helmet decals: "End Racism," "Stop Hate," "It Takes All of Us," "Black Lives Matter," "Inspire Change" and "Say Their Stories."

The “Say Their Stories” initiative returns and will coincide with each team highlighting its social justice work during a regular-season home game across Weeks 17 and 18.

Additionally, NFL end zones will have a relatively new, but familiar look. "It Takes All of Us" and "End Racism" will be prominently featured in the end zones of each team for a second consecutive fall.

“The key message for us as the season is starting, we are ramping up again in a big way with our social justice work,” added Isaacson.
