Seahawks Win, Russell Wilson Continues MVP Pursuit

Russell Wilson continues to make a strong case for NFL Most Valuable Player. With only 1:57 remaining in the fourth quarter, the 31-year-old quarterback led the Seattle Seahawks offense on a 13-play, 94-yard game-winning touchdown drive to give the team a 27-26 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

The drive was highlighted by two big fourth-down completions to second-year receiver D.K. Metcalf.

The come-from-behind victory keeps Seattle's undefeated record intact, and it also means the Seahawks remain atop the NFC West standings. At 4-1 and 3-2, the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals continue to stay in the running, but it's hard to imagine any other team winning the division with the way Wilson has played this season.

Statistically, this was Wilson's worst output, as he only threw for 217 yards while completing 62.5 percent of his passes. On the other hand, he added another 58 yards on the ground and three scores to his touchdown total.

On the season, the former third-round pick has tossed 19 touchdowns in five games, giving him an average of almost four per game.

It's not just the statistics, however. Wilson stepped up and made his biggest plays on a national stage when everything mattered. His team was down 21-26 with under two minutes to go. He went down the field and hit Metcalf on this fourth-and-goal to take the lead:

When asked about the final drive during the post-game interview on NBC, Wilson replied, "We just believed. We believed that if we could just get the ball back, something great would happen."

Wilson was right.

The defense got a big stop on a fourth-and-one from the Seattle six-yard line, giving the Seahawk offense a chance at making a spectacular, game-winning drive.

This is now the first time in franchise history the Seahawks have started the season 5-0, and that undefeated record will survive at least another week with Seattle heading into the bye before traveling to take on the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 25.

With what Wilson has shown through five weeks, he should continue to be the clear-cut MVP favorite. He's been nothing short of spectacular.
