Seahawks May Let Safety Jamal Adams Play Out Current Contract

The saga between veteran safety Jamal Adams and the Seattle Seahawks is ongoing, but word is the team is “truly done” negotiating to get him back in camp for the 2021 season.

Adams has been on campus for the team watching from the sidelines, but at the same time isn't taking the field as he's entering the last year of his current contract.

Reports say the Hawks have decided they've had enough trying to get Adams to ink a new deal, and that they are willing to let him play the final year of his deal and then if they do want to bring him back, they'll do so next offseason.

For now, Seattle is prepared to let Adams play out his option year, an amount that will pay him $9.86MM in 2021.

Reports say that the Hawks had offered Adams a deal worth $70 million over four-years, but the safety and his agents turned the deal down.

There was a report that the team was set to pay $38 million guaranteed to Adams, who is entering his 5th season after starting his career with the New York Jets in 2017.

For now the two sides will continue to wait things out, but it looks like Adams is going to have to get used to playing on a final one-year option before hitting free agency.
