Seahawks Lose Jamal Adams For Rest Of Season

Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams is offically out for the season.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport said Wednesday the Pro Bowler is having surgery to repair his previously torn labrum along with the "additional significant shoulder damage he sustained," in Sunday’s win.

Adams will make a full recovery for 2022, Rapoport said.

ESPN reports head coach Pete Carroll said he believed Adams' surgery would take place Thursday and that this labrum tear isn't as bad as last year's, which was in the same shoulder and also required surgery.

"He was really emotional about it last night," Carroll said.

Seattle acquired Adams in July of 2020 in a blockbuster trade with the New York Jets, giving up a package of picks that included their next two first-rounders. The Seahawks signed Adams to a four-year, $70 million extension this past August that made him the NFL's highest-paid safety, ESPN reports.

Adams missed only two games over his three seasons with the Jets, but will have missed nine over his first two in Seattle.

He was sidelined for four games due to a groin injury last year, and played through injuries to both shoulders in 2020 — including the torn labrum that needed surgery — as well as two broken fingers that also needed surgery and a hyperextended elbow, ESPN reports.

His 87 total tackles are third on the team while his four tackles for loss are tied for second.

The Seahawks (4-8) will face the Houston Texans (2-10) in Sunday's Week 14 matchup, with kickoff set for 10 a.m. PST.
