Seahawks Fire OC Brian Schottenheimer

After losing 30-20 to the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round, the Seattle Seahawks have fired offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.

As ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted, Seattle's offense was solid in 2020, so it's likely that other factors led to Schottenheimer's dismissal. The 2020 Seahawks offense ranked ninth in the NFL, so they don't have much to fix. Now, they are in the market for a new offensive coordinator with plenty of free agent coaches to choose from.

Schottenheimer, 47, has also been an offensive coordinator with the Rams and New York Jets. He has served as an assistant for multiple teams, dating back to when his dad, Marty Schottenheimer, was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins and San Diego (now LA) Chargers.

The younger Schottenheimer will almost certainly land another gig, and probably fairly quickly. Meanwhile, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll will need to find a new man to oversee quarterback Russell Wilson and the offense.
