Ryan Fitzpatrick Takes A Shot At John Clayton Over Retirement Comment

Earlier in the week, veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick inked a one-year deal with the Washington Football team, continuing a career that began with the St. Louis Rams in 2005.

Fitzpatrick has just about said and heard it all throughout his 16-year NFL career, and now at 38 years old, he's looking just to stay in the game.

Earlier in the week however, John Clayton, an NFL Insider, said that Fitzpatrick would simply walk away and retire.

When speaking to the D.C. media on Friday, Fitzpatrick took a funny shot at Clayton in response.

“I’ll just say, John Clayton, when he put out the rumor I’m retiring, is not a very reliable source," Fitzpatrick said.

Last season, Fitzpatrick started seven games for Miami, going 4-3 and throwing for 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Over the course of his career, which includes a number of different teams, Fitzpatrick is 59-86-1 as a starter. He's never spent more than four years with one organization.
