Ryan Fitzpatrick Has A Perfect Passer Rating At Halftime, Tua Should Still Start Next Week

Ryan Fitzpatrick has put up a perfect passer rating in the first half against the 49ers. That would mean something if it mattered in the least.

To clarify: No one outside of a DFS owner cares. Nor should they.

Ryan Fitzpatrick will be 38 before too long. By most all accounts he is a great guy. A great teammate. As a Harvard man, he is probably a perfect person to mentor Tua Tagovailoa.

His time as the Dolphins quarterback should end this week.

The Dolphins are 1-3. If the defense holds on, 2-3. Again, no one cares. Nor should they.

If the Dolphins trot out Fitzpatrick for the rest of the season, maybe the team wins six games. If Tua is healthy and it only wins four, or five, or three, does it matter? That is a rhetorical question. Of course it doesn't. It actually could be worse to win those games.

The Dolphins are an NFL non-factor this year. With 2020 carrying a Covid asterisk, just embrace the sunk season and get your guy ready. Your guy is not Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Earlier this week, Brian Flores said that Tua was "not ready" ... no one pressed him to find out if that meant physically because of his hip or any other definition.

What is may mean is the same thing it meant for Matt Nagy in Chicago. If Flores tosses Tua out there, the clock starts on his coaching career. It starts the clock on Flores/Tua like it did with Nagy/Foles.

Right now Flores is safe from termination. No one expected the Dolphins to be good. They aren't. No one has Flores on the hot seat for it.

As you read this, Fitzpatrick is grabbing a drink in the locker room. He started the game 12-for-15. He threw for 238 yards with a perfect 158.3 passer rating, and he added a 17-yard scramble. He is playing great.

It does not matter. Tua should start next week versus the Broncos.
