Rodgers And Packers Having 'Excellent' Conversations

It was not exactly an easy offseason for the Green Bay Packers, who had to sit back and see whether their franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers would eventually commit to them for another season.

Rodgers kept the Pack on their toes all offseason, not giving Packers fans much to check while he waited for the Brinks truck to come backing in with his 2021 salary, which is expected to total about $22.3 million.

The former backup to Brett Favre received a signing bonus of $6.8 million in March, and will make $1.1 million in base salary.

Green Bay general manager Brian Gutekunst said that the team has had conversations with Rodgers, and those talks have been "excellent."

"I've had really good conversations throughout camp with Aaron and Matt , and I think the communication has been really, really good," Gutekunst said.

"As we went into this kind of decision-making period, I think everybody — all the people that are kind of involved in that — were very aware of what was going on and why we were doing what we were doing. So I feel really good about that. And the conversations that I've had with Aaron have been excellent."

With cut day this week, one has to wonder how much input Rodgers had on the team's roster.

Green Bay, Tampa Bay, New Orleans, Seattle and the Los Angeles Rams are all expected to fight it out for the rights to the champs of the NFC this upcoming season.

It goes without saying that, with Rodgers under center, the Pack are right at the top of the list in the NFC.
