Report: Raiders Are Set To Hire Giants Coordinator Patrick Graham As DC

The Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly set to hire former New York Giants defensive coordinator Patrick Graham as their latest DC — as announced by Jeff Howe of The Athletic.

Graham coached the best unit on the Giants in two seasons under head coach Joe Judge.

Judge's wayward handling of the Giants offense allowed Graham's defenses to become the saving grace, and the winning recipe for the majority of Judge's 10 total wins.

With Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll becoming the new head coach of the Giants, Graham's role lost its foundation.

Daboll and the Giants brass were cognizant of Graham's contributions to Big Blue. As noted by The Athletic, Brian Daboll gave a vote of confidence to welcome back Graham as the Giants' defensive coordinator.

"Certainly, we hope that he has an opportunity to become a head coach. I think that’s everybody’s dream," Daboll said, "but selfishly, I would love him to be here. He offers a lot to our program. I think he’d be a great support system for me and I’m hoping that that works out."

Graham was considered by the Minnesota Vikings for their head coaching vacancy. The team hired Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell on Wednesday.

Another good omen with the Raiders' hiring of Graham is the four-season stint he spent with Josh McDaniels in New England as opposing coordinators from 2012-15.
