Reeling Steelers Seem Likely To Have T.J. Watt Back In Lineup

T.J. Watt’s groin injury sidelined him last week against the Bengals, but the Steelers edge rusher is on track for a start against the Packers this Sunday. According to reports, Watt was a full participant in Thursday’s practice, with plans to practice fully again Friday.

“I feel really good,” Watt said. “Full practice yesterday and full practice today (Friday), so I feel really good with where my body is at.”

The Steelers need all of the defensive help they can muster, especially against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, given their ineptitude on offense this season. Pittsburgh has scored just 50 points combined in three starts this season, good for a 16.7 points per game average, or 28th in the league.

Watt already has three sacks, six QB hits, and two forced fumbles in 2021, despite only playing one full game and change.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Steelers are (+6.5) road dogs in Green Bay this weekend, with the juice leaning towards the Packers. If the Steelers get anything out of their offense above the 16.7 average, they should be able to keep this one closer than a touchdown.

Expect a lot of teasers with Green Bay being bought down to a half-point pick ‘em, which means the books will be rooting hard for Pittsburgh to pull the upset. Not for nothing, but it’s always nice to be aligned with the house when it comes to sports betting.
