Ravens Ink LT Alejandro Villanueva To Two-Year Deal Worth $14 Million

On Tuesday, the Baltimore Ravens made it official, inking veteran OL Alejandro Villanueva to a two-year deal with $8 million, fully guaranteed.

Villanueva has been a staple on the rival Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line since joining the team in 2014. He's played in 96 games at the left tackle spot, starting 90 of them.

The deal to land Villanueva comes just 11 days after Baltimore sent Pro Bowl starter Orlando Brown Jr. packing to the two-time AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs.

The 6-foot-9, 320-pound Villanueva turns 33 in September. The writing was on the wall for him to leave Pittsburgh after not signing during the early parts of free agency.

The tackle and Ravens had a meet-up about a month ago, but the team was waiting to see whether they were actually going to move Brown Jr. Once he was traded, the team moved to make a deal with Villanueva.

Brown Jr. brought a bounty of picks to the Ravens, including No. 31 overall.

While $8 million of the two-year deal for Villanueva is fully guaranteed, the two-year contract is worth $14 million.

"We’ll have a strong offensive line. The best guys are going to play. We have great competition, and we’ll be ready to play when the time comes," Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said.
