Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey Likely Out For Remainder Of Season

The Ravens lost on the field on Sunday, and perhaps more importantly, they also lost their most important player on defense.

With the Ravens up 13-12 on the Steelers with 1:48 remaining in the fourth quarter, Baltimore Pro Bowl cornerback Marlon Humphrey attempted to bring down Pittsburgh receiver Diontae Johnson at the goal line. The tackle would have prevented Pittsburgh from taking the lead, but Johnson was able to muscle his way in.

On the play, Humphrey extended his arm and appeared to be in pain. After the 20-19 loss to the Steelers (6-5-1), NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Humphrey suffered a shoulder injury and is expected to be out for the remainder of the season. Baltimore Sun reporter Jonas Shaffer provided video of the play where Humphrey injured himself.

Humphrey's injury influenced head coach John Harbaugh's decision to go for two on Baltimore's final drive after they scored to make it 20-19. Quarterback Lamar Jackson's pass to tight end Mark Andrews was incomplete, sealing the victory for Pittsburgh.

Per ESPN, after the game Harbaugh said he went for two because the secondary was depleted.

Baltimore's injury woes continue, as 16 players are now on injured reserve. That includes cornerback Marcus Peters, who tore his ACL before the season. The Ravens (8-4) still sit atop the AFC North, one game above the Bengals (7-5).
