Raiders May Turn To Ha Ha Clinton-Dix For Secondary Help

The Las Vegas Raiders could be adding veteran help in their secondary as NFL Network reports unestricted free agent Ha Ha Clinton-Dix met with the team Friday.

Clinton-Dix has played for the Green Bay Packers, Washington Football Team and Chicago Bears but did not play in the 2020 campaign after the Dallas Cowboys released him in September 2020.

Clinton-Dix was originally drafted by the Packers in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft under former coach Mike McCarthy, who now is the Dallas Cowboys coach.

"... He was a Pro Bowler in his third season with 80 tackles, five interceptions and seven passes defended," Bleacher Report details. "He also posted 100 tackles in his second season and 93 tackles in 2018 while splitting time between Green Bay and Washington."

NFL Network reported in September that he was brought in to fill the void Jeff Heath left once signing a deal with the Raiders in the offseason.

Clinton-Dix signed a one-year, $3.75 million deal with the Cowboys in May 2020, per NFL Network. The safety was released in September 2020 to save $1.5 million in cap space and the team paid $2.25 million guaranteed to Clinton-Dix.

The 28-year-old former Alabama star was effective in 2019 for the Bears with an overall player grade of 74.2 from Pro Football Focus.

In Vegas, he would be joining a defensive secondary that has Trayvon Mullen and Johnathan Abram and could provide the Raiders with the necessary backend assistance and sound to make improvements.

Any veteran defensive depth should be considered by the team as the Raiders will soon face Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert, where secondary leadership will be vital.
