Pitts No Longer Stinks, Provides Spark For Atlanta

All it took for Kyle Pitts to prove he didn't stink was a trip across the pond. Though he managed to avoid the end zone throughout the season's first four weeks, Pitts finally found pay dirt during the Falcons' 27-20 win over the Jets in London. A robust stat line washed away the stench of regret that had been hovering over Atlanta since Pitts' slow start to his rookie campaign.

After entering Sunday scoreless and yet to top 75 yards receiving in a game, Pitts exploded for 119 yards and a score on his nine receptions, all season bests.

Atlanta was anything but surprised to see Pitts show out in London.

"We all know what Kyle can do," said Falcons teammate Cordarrelle Patterson. "(Coach Arthur Smith) always says he expects stuff like that from Kyle, and we do too. He was the No. 4 overall pick, and he's not shy out there. He's got every asset. He's got good speed, hands, routes."

Pitts' performance went a long way in helping Atlanta inch closer to .500. The Falcons currently sit 2-3 and couldn't afford another early-season loss. They're currently in last place in the NFC's South division.

"I thought Kyle Pitts played the best game he's played for us," quarterback Matt Ryan told reporters. "I think there are going to be a lot of those (games) in the future for him."

As Patterson noted, enjoying the sweet smell of victory has Atlanta anxious for another whiff of Pitts: "We want (that performance) to happen every week."
