Panthers Shore Up Offensive Line, Ink Free Agents Cam Erving And Pat Elflein

The Carolina Panthers already had plenty of work to do to try and figure out the quarterback spot among other positions for 2021 as free agency begins around the NFL.

Another huge position in flux for the Cats is their offensive line, and when the final gun sounded on their 2020 season, the team sat with 17 unrestricted free agents - six of them offensive linemen, four of them starters.

The team wasted little time addressing the position on Monday, as they have agreed to terms with Cam Erving on a two-year deal worth $10 million with $8 million guaranteed.

Erving comes to Carolina after playing with the Cowboys in Dallas last season. Before that, he played a couple of seasons for the Chiefs in Kansas City.

In his career, Erving, a former first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2015, has played in 75 career games, starting 47 of them.

Erving is likely being brought into Carolina to play left tackle, but he can also line up and play guard.

The Panthers were not done reshaping their line, as the team also came to terms with New York Jets guard Pat Elflein.

Elflein has signed a reported three-year deal with Carolina worth $13.5 million. He started the last six games for the Jets in 2020 and played well at the left guard spot after the team lost Alex Lewis to injury.

The Erving and Elflein moves come after the team already gave the franchise tag to right tackle Taylor Moton.
