Packers RB Aaron Jones Lost His Father's Ashes In The End Zone

Aaron Jones' dad was able to remain a lot closer to the Packers running back than most Detroit defenders Monday night. Jones' father, who passed away in April, was with Jones by way of a chain the running back wore under his pads that contained his father's ashes. With a heavenly assist from his old man, Jones found the end zone four times on Monday night, and Green Bay ultimately upended the Lions 35-17.

Unfortunately, Jones didn't have divine intervention to help secure the chain, and he inadvertently left his dad's ashes in the Lambeau end zone.

On a night when Jones entered the Lambeau Field record books with with four total touchdowns -- one rushing, three receiving -- the Packers star revealed to ESPN's Lisa Salters that he had lost his dad's ashes along the way: "He was really on my heart. I actually have a chain with a football, and his ashes are in it. I scored, and it fell off in the end zone. So, I’ll go look for it, but he’d be happy. He’d be like, 'If you lose it anywhere, lose it in the end zone.'"

Jones finished the evening with a stat line that would make fantasy owners blush: 115 total yards, six receptions and the aforementioned four scores.

The win was Jones' first game at Lambeau Field since his dad passed in the spring. Asked by Salters what he thought his father would say to him after his four touchdown night, Jones responded: "I think he'd be very proud of me. (He'd) tell me to continue to work, this is only the beginning. Continue to stack success and be humble, but be proud."

Papa Jones may want to remain where he is if he wants to stay close to son Aaron. The younger Jones, who has scored 47 touchdowns in his career, is a frequent end zone visitor.

*Update* Jones confirmed today to "The Steve Czaban Show" that a team trainer was able to locate his chain early Tuesday morning. " found it, so we're perfect," said Jones. "Thank you to him. He was out there until 1:45 .
