One Former NFL WR Says A 17-Game Slate Could Hurt The League In The Long Run
The National Football League has proposed playing 17 regular season games (check out the entire slate for the final week of the regular season by clicking HERE), and now some players have publicly expressed how they feel about adding another game to an already grueling slate.
One former NFL player who sees some potential issues with adding a 17th game is wide out Torrey Smith. Smith went on Twitter on Sunday to voice his concerns and made some valid points about player health and safety.
"7 games in the NFL is great for 💰 but they are going to have to adjust practices and what a regular offseason looks like. Dudes were already falling apart playing 16. As a whole this is great but adjustments have to be made."
The final steps still have to be taken for a 17th week, but it seems like a done deal in the league and has been discussed for quite some time.
Smith had a solid NFL career. He played for the Ravens from 2011 to 2014 and won his first Super Bowl, then went to the 49ers for two seasons, then moved to the Eagles in 2017, where he won his second Super Bowl. He wrapped up his career in Carolina in 2018.
