NFL Won't Release Audio Tapes Of Back And Forth Between Tyrann Mathieu And Tom Brady

One of the big storylines from Sunday's Super Bowl LV win for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was the on-field exchange between Bucs QB Tom Brady and Chiefs Tyrann Mathieu at the end of the first half.

The back and forth took place after the Bucs scored a touchdown to make it a 21-6 game. Tampa eventually routed Kansas City 31-9 to take home their second Lombardi.

The debate between Mathieu and Brady reportedly got so heated that after the game, Mathieu said that Brady called the safety something that he "won't repeat."

“He called me something I won’t repeat but yeah I’ll let all the media throw me under bus as if I did something or said something to him,” Mathieu said in a tweet that he deleted shortly after posting.

Since then, cooler heads have prevailed, and Brady has apologized to the veteran for whatever he said that Mathieu felt was out of line.

The NFL also seems to be taking control of the situation, as reports Friday indicate that NFL Films has chosen not to release the audio clip of the exchange between Brady and Mathieu.

What that obviously means is that there was some type of back and forth between the two, and things indeed got heated enough for the league to decide not to allow fans to hear the audio.

Other than Brady and Mathieu, no one knows for sure what was said, but after the game, Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin told Rich Eisen that Brady is innocent and that he didn't call Mathieu any sort of racial slur.

Irvin went so far as to say that the language that Brady used “included nothing stronger than the typical profanity heard throughout any NFL game.”
