NFL Schedule Release Set For Wednesday Night

The NFL has its annual schedule release set for Wednesday night on ESPN, according to a tweet from Adam Schefter. This won't be a typical release, however, as it will include a 17-game slate for the first time ever.

Back in March, team owners approved increasing the regular season from 16 games to 17. Now it's time to see what that will look like. What we do know -- based off the tweet from Schefter -- is that the season will kickoff on Thursday, Sept. 9 and run through Sunday, Jan. 9 of 2022.

We'll also get to see the reigning Super Bowl champions, including Tom Brady, host that Thursday night opener to kick off the season. We just don't know who Tampa Bay's opponent will be yet, but we should find out soon enough.

The schedule reveal will get underway at 8 p.m. ET. You can check it out on ESPN, or you can watch it on the NFL Network.
