Moving Julio Jones Remains The Top Option For The Falcons To Help Their Salary Cap

The Atlanta Falcons say are going to move No. 1 wide receiver Julio Jones, and now they have a better idea of what they want for him.

The 32-year-old Jones is set to make $15.3 million guaranteed for the 2021 season. One reason the Falcons are still looking to move Jones is that they need money to sign their draft picks.

Atlanta has the likes of Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage at the wide out spot, so it's not like they would be out of options without Jones.

Moving Jones probably wouldn't go over well with the Falcons faithful, but it might be the smartest move they could make to get closer to playing in a Super Bowl again.

A few years back, the Falcons played in the big game, sitting with a 28-3 halftime lead before they blew it against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Since then, the Falcons haven't won much, but they realize that moving Jones might be the start to rebuilding their way back to success.

The Falcons were reportedly asking teams for a first-round pick for Jones before the draft a few weeks back, but as was often the case, no team took the bait.

Jones reportedly wants to join Bill Belichick and the Patriots so he can play for fellow former NFC South quarterback Cam Newton, who left Carolina to go to New England.

The Falcons have just $357,027 in salary-cap room and cannot sign draft picks until they free up more space. Moving Jones makes the most sense - but can they make it happen?
