Lions Expected To Hire John Dorsey As Senior Executive
It appears John Dorsey will soon be officially back in a high-ranking position with an NFL team.
Per Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, the Detroit Lions are expected to hire Dorsey as a senior personnel executive. Dorsey, 60, was fired as GM of the Cleveland Browns after a 6-10 finish in 2019. With the Lions, he could potentially help as Brad Holmes makes the transition to full-time general manager.
Dorsey paired with Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid in 2013, but Dorsey was fired by the Chiefs in 2017 in somewhat of a surprise decision. Dorsey's teams compiled an overall mark of 56-43-1 during his time as GM. They also reached the playoffs three times.
This past season, seemingly unbeknown to many, he served as a consultant for the Philadelphia Eagles. He was also listed as a GM candidate for several offseason vacancies, including the one with the Houston Texans. But he didn't interview for so much as one.
