Kliff Kingsbury: NFL Coach Of Year Award Should Be Named After Bill Belichick

Arizona Cardinals' Kliff Kingsbury and New England Patriots' Bill Belichick seem to be leading the race for Coach of the Year, but the Cardinals head coach seems to know who he thinks should be given the honor.

AZCardinals.com's Darren Urban reports that when Kingsbury was asked about being in the conversation with his former coach — Kingsbury was a Patriots quarterback in 2003 — the Cardinals coach broke into a big smile and chuckled.

"They should just name the award Bill Belichick and when he retires, bring that back," Kingsbury said. "Until he retires, I don't think anyone else should get that award. He should be that every single year he is coaching."

Despite all his accolades, Belichick has won Coach of the Year just three times, with the award often going to the coach of a team that surprised while posting one of the best records.

USA Today reports the six-time Super Bowl champion head coach said he appreciated Kingsbury giving him his flowers, but said Kingsbury deserves this year’s top coach award, not himself.

“That's very nice of Kliff to toss that bouquet. I'll toss it right back,” Belichick said. “Kliff has done a great job and should be the Coach of the Year."
