Josh Rosen's Back In The Unemployment Line

Four years into his NFL career, quarterback Josh Rosen is probably longing for the days of hot tubing with coeds in his UCLA dorm room. Rosen, the 10th overall pick in 2018's NFL draft, was released by the 49ers today. San Francisco was already the fourth stop in a career that thus far, has had Rosen stuck in neutral.

Entering the league in the same draft class as successful quarterbacks such as Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson (plus the up and down Sam Darnold), Rosen was in the discussion for the top overall pick. He ended up sliding to Arizona at No. 10, but spent just one season in the desert. Not wanting to pass on the opportunity to draft Kyler Murray, Arizona traded Rosen to Miami following his rookie campaign.

Since then, Rosen's bounced between Tampa Bay and San Francisco, spending time on both the practice squad and active roster.

Looking up the depth chart at signal callers Jimmy Garoppolo, Trey Lance, and Nate Sudfeld in San Francisco, Rosen likely saw that there was little room for him.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network tweeted that Rosen recently commented on his lack of practice reps. However, he's still just 24 years old, so his release should afford him the opportunity to catch on with a fifth team.

In 20 career games, he's completed just under 55% of his passes for 2,845 yards, 12 touchdowns and 19 interceptions.
