Josh Rosen Lands On Fifth Team In Four Years

After losing reliable backup quarterback A.J. McCarron to a torn ACL over the weekend, the Falcons decided to pick up embattled journeyman Josh Rosen to replace him on the roster.

The hope within Atlanta is that new head coach Arthur Smith can turn the Falcons quarterback room into an elite unit. Smith was successful in rehabilitating Ryan Tannehill’s career in Tennessee, so perhaps he can turn Rosen, a former first-round pick himself, into a legitimate option again.

The move to Atlanta marks the fifth stop in four years for Rosen, who was drafted in the top 10 by the Cardinals but immediately cast aside the following season in favor of Kyler Murray. Rosen has also spent time in Miami, Tampa Bay, and San Francisco, and is on the cusp of falling out of the league altogether.

A move to Atlanta, learning under an offensive-minded coach with a penchant for improving quarterbacks, might be exactly what he needs to regain the form that got him drafted right alongside big names like Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson.
