Joel Klatt Releases Quarterback Rankings For 2021 NFL Draft

It is draft season, which means everybody has an opinion on various NFL prospects. That especially holds true for the quarterbacks. When Thursday, April 29 rolls around, we could see a historic 4-straight taken to start the 2021 NFL draft.

That's not a guarantee, but this is obviously an extraordinary quarterback class.

Opinions on how these guys should be ranked vary from pundit to pundit. FOX Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt is no different. He's got his own way of looking at things, and that includes his own rankings of this year's crop.

Here are how Klatt's group shakes out:

Fields being the No. 2 quarterback on the list could surprise some people. I currently have him ranked No. 4 behind Lawrence, Wilson and Lance, but the distance between Lance and Fields is narrow. At one point in time, the Ohio State product was the consensus No. 2 guy.

Personally, I would move Mills up the board. He's not a mobile player, but I love his upside as a thrower. He checks in as my QB7 right behind Trask, but I don't believe there's a lot separating the two. Trask has the better college production, but I believe Mills has a higher ceiling.

It appears Klatt doesn't agree though.

Of the notable names left off Klatt's list, former Wake Forest quarterback Jamie Newman stands out. The physical tools are all there, but he needs to show improvements with second and third reads.

The struggles down at the Senior Bowl were real.
