Jaguars Request Permission To Interview 49ers DC Robert Saleh
San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh is already making the rounds on the head-coaching circuit, one day after the conclusion of the regular season.
According to 49ers general manager John Lynch, the Jacksonville Jaguars are among the teams that have requested to interview Saleh. Lynch broke the news during his end-of-season address with reporters Monday.
The Jaguars fired Doug Marrone, and while Saleh is a candidate, they seem to have their sights mostly set on former Ohio State and Florida coach Urban Meyer.
But if Saleh doesn't get the Jaguars gig, he'll certainly have interest elsewhere. Lynch noted that both the Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons also have interest in Saleh.
The Lions, in particular, should give Saleh a chance, defensive back Richard Sherman insisted recently. After all, Saleh is a native of Dearborn, MI.
“He has to get the Detroit job,” Sherman told Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated. “Homegrown. He’s a great leader of men. And he’s not stubborn. He doesn’t just think he has all the answers. He comes up with a great plan and evolves it with his players. He’s a great human being. Makes you want to fight for him.”
