Jags RB James Robinson Suffers Torn Achilles In Week 16 Matchup Against Jets

The Jacksonville Jaguars lost a critical piece of their offense after running back James Robinson tore his Achilles amid Sunday's slate of Week 16 matchup.

It was a non-contact injury out of the backfield. Robinson took the initial steps of a play and went down before reaching quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Initial reactions to the video feared an Achilles rupture, then confirmed by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Robinson saw his role revived once the team cut ties with head coach Urban Meyer early December. One of the main critiques in Meyer's 13-game tenure was the underutilization of Robinson in the Jags' league-worst offense.

Last season, Robinson contributed 1,414 total yards of offense and 10 touchdowns.

A potential silver lining in the injury news is a sixth-month Achilles return timeline recently seen by Rams running back Cam Akers. After suffering the injury in July, Akers eventually rehabbed his way back to a 'designated for return' label on Dec 23.
