Jacksonville Jaguars Franchise Tag Offensive Tackle Cam Robinson

The Jacksonville Jaguars already have a new high profile head coach, former Florida and Ohio State coach Urban Meyer. Next will come a new franchise quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, who is expected to be the first overall pick of the NFL Draft, which takes place in Cleveland on April 29.

So it comes as no surprise that the team wants to get Lawrence some protection. On Tuesday, they took a big step in securing some of that protection, as they reportedly decided to place the franchise tag on offensive tackle Cam Robinson.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the team has decided to keep Robinson around, despite the high amount it will take to franchise him (the franchise tag for offensive linemen is expected to be around $13.6 million in 2021.)

Though they have a flashy new coach and soon will have a flashy new QB, Jacksonville has been wise with its money and therefore has plenty of money to pay Robinson.

Robinson did struggle a bit in 2020, as he gave up 40 pressures, seven QB hits, and five sacks, per Pro Football Focus.

Robinson has played his entire four-year career with the Jaguars and started all 16 games last year.
