Indianapolis Colts Ink RB Marlon Mack To One-Year Deal Worth $2 Million

The Indianapolis Colts are bringing back veteran running back Marlon Mack, who has just inked a one-year deal worth $2 million.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero was the first to report the signing.

2020 was a tough season for Mack. The 25-year-old missed all but 11 plays, tearing his Achilles tendon in the season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In that first game, Mack rushed for 26 yards on four carries and caught all three of his targets for 30 yards.

With Mack on the sidelines, the Colts moved on to Jonathan Taylor, who had a huge rookie season, rushing for 1,169 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Now with Mack coming back, the Colts have a solid 1-2 punch in their offense with Taylor and Mack.

In his rookie year in 2018, Mack rushed for 908 yards. In 2019, he followed that up with an even better year going for 1,091 yards.

With this new deal, Mack gets a $1 million signing bonus and $1 million in base salary. He carries a $2 million cap hit.

Though Mack is coming off of a torn Achilles, he is expected to be ready for training camp and to be in the mix with Taylor and other ball carriers in the 2021 season.
