Gruden On WFT Name Change: 'I Don't Think Anyone Cares'

Earlier this week, the Washington Football Team announced plans to unveil a new name and logo in early February. Ever since, news of the rebrand has plenty of Washington fans anxiously awaiting the big reveal. But one notable former Washington employee isn't exactly counting down the days.

"I don't think anybody really cares," former coach Jay Gruden told the "Russell & Medhurst" radio show.

Gruden was the head coach of the franchise from 2014 through 2019 when they were known as the Redskins.

Jay, who like his brother Jon, isn't one to bite his tongue, told radio listeners he wasn't a fan of the team's decision to drop the Redskins moniker. "I don't want to ruffle any feathers, but they should have never changed the name in the first place," Gruden said, per "Russell & Medhurst."

Despite Gruden's objections, the team will officially change their name, logo, and uniforms on February 2. Though plenty of things will change, one thing will definitely remain the same -- the team's burgundy and gold color scheme.

Colors aside, it's anyone's guess as to which nickname will adorn Washington's team next fall, though the team may have inadvertently provided a solid hint.

"It's so exciting," Gruden sarcastically told "Russell & Medhurst."

Whatever the Football Team decides to call themselves, the name can't be much worse than Gruden's résumé while at Washington. In nearly six seasons at the helm, Gruden went 35-49-1 and took the team to the postseason once, losing in the opening round.

Talk about nobody caring.
