Girl Injured In Crash Involving Ex-Chiefs Assistant Britt Reid Is Improving

The 5-year-old girl injured in the car accident caused by former Kansas City Chiefs linebackers coach Britt Reid is improving. According to Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports, she has awoken from a coma.

Reid is the son of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid.

The accident occurred after Britt Reid left the Chiefs practice facility the evening of Feb. 5. Kansas City police continue to investigate the crash as a possible DUI. Reid admitted to drinking alcohol before the accident. He also told police he had been taking the prescription drug Adderall.

“Reid reportedly told police that the pickup truck he was driving hit a car that had pulled over after running out of gas, as well as another vehicle that had come to assist that vehicle,” per Pro Football Talk. “The two children were in the second vehicle.”

Reid, 35, pleaded guilty to a DUI in 2008. In the accident prior to Super Bowl LV, police reported they smelled alcohol on Reid's breath and that his eyes were bloodshot. He reportedly underwent surgery after the crash.

The Chiefs did not renew Reid's contract after the season.
