Former Pro Bowl LB Jaylon Smith Back On Market

The Green Bay Packers are releasing linebacker Jaylon Smith, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The 26-year-old linebacker spent less than a month with Green Bay, joining the franchise after the Dallas Cowboys released him in early October.

The signing seemed like a necessary addition to a Packers defense dealing with injuries, but Smith failed to make an impact as he recorded just one tackle in two games played and played a total of 27 defensive snaps before his release.

He was active for two games with the Packers but was inactive for the team's Week 8 contest.

This season hasn't been great for Smith. He began as the starter in Dallas but was eventually passed by first-rounder Micah Parsons and former safety Keanu Neal. Dallas cut Smith just two years into a five-year, $64 million extension he signed back in 2019 that included $35 million guaranteed.

The former Notre Dame linebacker is now left to find another employer, but Around the NFL reports he should get some attention from injury-stricken teams.
