Former NFL WR Keyshawn Johnson Announces Death Of First-Born Daughter Maia

Former first overall pick in the 1996 NFL Draft and now ESPN analyst and radio host Keyshawn Johnson announced on Twitter Monday that his oldest daughter, Maia, has passed away.

"It is with incredible sadness that I have to share the news about the passing of my beautiful Daughter Maia," Johnson wrote on Twitter.

"Maia, as my first born child, has been the joy of my, and her Mother Shikiri's, life.

"She came into our lives just as we were both coming of age as adults and has been a constant beloved presence for both of us.

"We are heartbroken and devastated by her loss. Shikiri, Maia's siblings, our family and me appreciate your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time."

Maia, who was 25, was Johnson's first child with Shikiri Hightower, whom Johnson was married to from 1998-2002.

They also had a son, Keyshawn Jr., in 1998. Johnson also has two children with his current wife, Jennifer Conrad.

No cause of death has been revealed publicly at this point.

Johnson is very busy these days on ESPN both on television and radio, as he is an analyst on ESPN's NFL Live and co-hosts ESPN Radio's weekday morning show, Keyshawn, JWill & Zubin, with Jay Williams and Zubin Mehenti.

The four-letter sports company put out a statement in regards to the passing of Johnson's daughter.

"Our thoughts are with Keyshawn and his family as they deal with this unthinkable tragedy. He has the full support of his ESPN family," ESPN said in a statement.
