Former NFL Player Phillip Adams Kills Five People In South Carolina, Then Himself
There was a shooting in Rock Hill, South Carolina on Wednesday afternoon that left five people dead, including a doctor and several members of his family. On Thursday, it was revealed that former NFL cornerback Phillip Adams was behind the horrific shooting.
Early on Thursday morning, the six-year league veteran then shot himself with a .45-caliber weapon.
According to an article on ESPN, Adams lived near Dr. Robert Lesslie and had been treated by him. The reason behind the shooting is unknown at this time, but we do know that Adams also killed Lesslie's wife and two of his young grandchildren, ages 5 and 9.
There was also a fifth victim who was killed in the shooting, and a sixth who was taken to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, per the article from WBTV in South Carolina.
Adams was a seventh-round draft pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. He was a journeyman cornerback who spent six years in the league with six different teams: the 49ers (who drafted him), Patriots, Seahawks, Raiders, Jets and, most recently, the Falcons in 2015.
