Former Deshaun Watson Teammate Says QB Has 'Interest' In Playing For Broncos
There has been plenty of speculation about which teams have the inside track on a possible trade for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.
The New York Jets, Miami Dolphins and Washington Football Team have been potential front runners from day one, but Watson may be interested in another team.
That team is the Denver Broncos, who would take Watson in a second. Denver has had trouble finding a franchise quarterback since John Elway's retirement back in 1999.
Elway couldn't get the job of finding a quarterback done as GM either, and he stepped down at the end of the season after a decade in the role. He has stayed on as president of football operations.
A former teammate of Watson who still speaks with the quarterback says that Denver is a team on the short list, and there is "interest" there on Watson's part.
That teammate is cornerback Kareem Jackson, who spoke to TMZ Sports about Watson and what he wants for his future.
"I had a couple of conversations with him," Jackson said of Watson via TMZ.
"Just with him saying that Denver is a place that's he's interested in landing."
Jackson and Watson were teammates in Houston during the 2017 and 2018 seasons, and Jackson insists that if the Broncos come calling, Watson would listen.
"I had a couple of conversations with him," Jackson said of Watson. "Just with him saying that Denver is a place that's he's interested in landing."
Jackson hasn't been shy about going after Watson, tweeting over this past weekend that he is very much trying to talk the quarterback into coming to Colorado.
If they score Watson, the Broncos would be an immediate AFC West contender. They would almost certainly be a whole lot better than their 2020 record of 5-11.
"He can turn any franchise around," Jackson said.
It remains to be seen whether he will have that chance with Denver.
